The western side of the borough, Locks Heath, Park Gate, Sarisbury Green and Warsash, is largely post-war and 1960s to 80s family housing: semis and detached homes on generous plots with the kind of rear garden that makes a single-storey or wrap-around extension straightforward. Planning permission in Fareham borough

The borough has thirteen conservation areas, including Titchfield, Titchfield Abbey, Sarisbury Green, Warsash, Catisfield, Hook, Cams Hall, Wallington, Portchester Castle Street, Swanwick Shore, Town Quay, Osborn Road and Fareham High Street. Titchfield and Sarisbury Green both have Article 4 directions that remove some permitted development rights.
